The Consort

Welcome to The Consort.

We are a group of singers dedicated to singing A Cappella (totally unaccompanied) music, for pleasure for ourselves and others.

We sing with eight to ten voices and we sing music from all ages, from the Twelfth Century up to today and our repertoire covers Sacred Motets, Madrigals, Folk songs, Humourous songs, songs of Love and Anguish, songs from the Twenties and Thirties, and songs from the hit parade. The list seems endless.

We started out singing with the Damon Singers, a small choir based in Chesham, Bucks, in the early 1980's when four of us decided to enter a quartet in a local music competition, and we found we really liked singing with one voice to a part like that. It is a bit like singing without a safety net - nobody to fall back on if you make a mistake, but that just helps the concentration.

We've been together since then - almost thirty years - in one form or another, and we now enjoy a full programme of concerts and engagements such as Weddings or Fund Raising events, or After Dinner entertainment.
